Charitable Recipients

 

Currently, Birthday Cakes 4 Free partners with 12 charities in Maryland, Virginia, and the DC Metropolitan area.

National Center for Children and Families:

GreenTree Shelter

 The GreenTree shelter serves as a transitional home for homeless families, primarily children with a single mother. The shelter provides t

he basic support systems necessary for families to begin rebuilding their lives.

 

Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless:

Seneca Heights Apartments

The Seneca Falls Apartments serves as a permanent supportive housing complex for formerly homeless individuals and families.

 

Cordell Place

Cordell Place provides permanent supportive housing to 32 single men and women in downtown Bethesda. Its residents are amongst the most vulnerable formerly homeless people in Montgomery County. Cordell Place empowers clients to achieve housing stability.

Shepard’s Table

Shepards table addresses food insecurity and homelessness through an array of programs designed to both meet

immediate needs and provide sustained social support.

Interfaith Works:

Interfaith Works Women’s Center

The IW Women’s Center is a 70-bed emergency shelter serving approximately 300 women per year. Case managers work with women to facilitate recovery and stability, as well as connect them with housing, medical, mental health, and social services.

​

Becky's House

Becky’s House provides a safe, welcoming residential environment for up to senior, disabled women, many of whom have lived on

the streets for decades with no place to go.

​

Priscilla's House

Priscilla’s house is a permanent housing program for 8 women with behavioral health needs. The program provides onsite case management and assists women in recovery with increasing their income and budgeting, while providing stable housing within the community.

 

Independent Organizations: 

Friendship Place - La Casa Program

La Casa provides permanent supportive housing and comprehensive in-house case management,

as well as 24/7 staff assistance, for 40 highly vulnerable homeless men over the age of 50 (seniors).

Boys and Girls Club - DC

The Boys & Girls Club of DC serves the Greater Washington area’s financially disadvantaged children ages 6-13 through

five key elements for positive youth development in after school programs. 

​

Bethesda Cares

Bethesda Cares's mission is to mission is to prevent, ease and end homelessness in our community.

​

So Others Might Eat (SOME)

Since 1970, SOME has been a care provider and a beacon of hope to DC residents, including individuals, families, senior

citizens, veterans and those affected by physical or mental health challenges.

 

What Else Can We Do To Help

So What Else’s mission is to improve the lives of children and families living in underserved communities in the Baltimore-Washington Metro

Area by providing food security, access to basic necessities, and high-quality out-of-school time programs.

Note: Birthday Cakes 4 Free Maryland only bakes cakes for non-profit organizations and social action groups. We do not bake cakes for individuals.
